Prempeh I Today in History, exactly 89 years ago, On May 12, 1931 Asantehene Prempeh I (Kwaku Dua III) died in Kumasi, Gold Coast. Asantehene Otumfuo Nana Prempeh I Otumfuo Nana Prempeh I, born in 1870 was the 13th King ruler of the Asante state of the Asante Kingdom and the Asante Oyoko Abohyen Dynasty. He was born as Prince Kwaku Dua III of the Kingdom of Ashanti, and he took the name of Prempeh I upon ascension on the throne at the young age of 18. Reigned as Asantehene from March 1888 until his death in 1931 during which he repeatedly resisted the British Government’s attempts to subsume Asante into the Gold Coast Protectorate. His reign was a troubled one as it fell during the time of British invasion/colonization of the Gold Coast. [HISTORY TODAY]: Sir Kobina Arku Korsah, First Ghanaian Chief Justice Sir Kobina Arku Korsah, First Chief Justice, Ghana Sir Kobina Arku Korsah (1894-1967) was the first African Chief Justice of Gold Coast (1956) and independent Ghana (1957-1963). He was the first Ghanaian alongside Nana Sir Ofori-Atta I to be appointed as members of the Governor`s Executive Council. He was the youngest person ever to be elected as member of the Gold Coast Legislative Council and the first Boys Scout Commissioner in Ghana. Sir Arku Korsah was the first Grand Master of the District Grand Lodge of Ghana, Scottish Constitution (1953-1963). He was removed from office by President Nkrumah after he found the defendants in the Kulungugu bombing trial not guilty. In addition to his judicial work, Sir Arku Korsah was also a founding member of the Ghana Academy for Arts & Sciences. KMA TO DISTRIBUTE STICKERS TO TAXI AND TROTRO DRIVERS In the course of fighting Covid-19, KMA has started sharing 'stickers' to Taxi and Trotro vehicle drivers according to the head of transport, KMA, Randy Wilson on Nhyira FM morning show [Kro Yi Mu Nsem]. Moreover, Mr. Randy Wilson stated that the 'stickers' are taken to various Taxi and Trotro stations and it will be sold at GHC10. The sticker carries a security barcode with features and it will be placed at the front mirror of taxi and Trotro vehicles. Again, Mr. Isaac Kwabena Boateng who is the chairman, cooperative transport union, Ashanti Region stated that the reason for this action is to trace vehicles and also fight against Covid-19.
